Fantastic Party and Mixer

April 30, 2008

We had a great party and mixer last night at Valentina Ristorante in Mission Viejo last night.  Many thanks to those of you who came and participated in our event.  There were close to 100 people in attendance.  We gave out many door prizes which included two-day weekend get-a-ways and a 4-day cruise.  We also had our film crew there videotaping the show and doing interviews.  The interviews and video will be up shortly on our Youtube site, www.youtube.com/corporatebrokers.   Thank you also to the sponsors of the event, Dreamcatcher Marketing, Corporate Brokers, and Christian Stanley.

Strategy, Strategy, Strategy

April 24, 2008

As banks’ lending criteria continues to tighten up, it is more important than ever to have a good plan and strategy.  Especially if you are a new business, you can no longer just walk into a bank and expect easy money.  My suggestion would be to get your business incorporated first.  As soon as you have an idea and you’re sure you’re going to start a business, get incorporated.  Even if you do nothing with it for the first year, it is better to have it than not, for many reasons.  Your corporation is like fine wine - it’s value increases with age.

Banks Offering Less Credit to Business

April 23, 2008

The banks are still tightening their belts.  Banks used to give business credit based on the personal guarantor’s FICO score.  Last week, that changed.   One bank recently changed its criteria and now requires a new business to have not only a good credit score for the personal guarantor, but now they also require that your business has an active D&B file with history and trade references.  Another bank has stopped offering Lines of Credit to new corporations entirely.  This is making things difficult for many new businesses.  Now it is more important than ever to set up a strategy and get started as soon as possible.  Waiting to set up your corporation is no longer an option.
